FREE Parent Nights Out!

As a mom myself I know how hard it can be finding a babysitter. Time alone with our spouses and/or friends is important.  In order to encourage parents to take time for themselves I offer FREE parent nights out to my clients.  On an occasional Saturday night for a couple of hours when my schedule allows I will invite the children back for something special such as pajama and movie night. This will allow for a carefree night since the children will be in a place that they're already familiar with.

Halloween

Happy Halloween!

We had a Halloween party that consisted of….

- Cupcakes
- A game of pin the Boo on the Ghost
- Halloween Songs (eg. "5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate" and a related craft)
- Costume photo shoot

Activities 4

Obstacle Course
With a group full of boys I find it necessary to pick activities that burn a lot of energy. So I decided to build an obstacle course. Ours consisted of a tunnel, bins to jump over, an inflatable mountain to climb, a blanket rolled up to make a tight rope to practice balance, a wrapping paper roll put on top of two chairs to crawl under and lastly a pile of pillows to jump on!

Learning OVER and UNDER
The Limbo
What better way to teach the concepts of OVER and UNDER than by playing the Limbo! Turn some limbo music up and grab a wrapping paper roll to use for the stick and watch the kids have a blast.  Shout out “Over” or “Under” and move the stick to the appropriate height.

Learning BIG and small.
Look for objects around the house that show the concepts of big and small.  I grabbed a pair of my shoes and Brayden’s shoes and asked the kids to point to which ones were BIG. We played this game with a few objects. We also sang a few songs about big and small.

Let’s make Learning Funny
How a Wash Cloth turned into a Learning Game!
How does a dog wash cloth teach kids you ask? By feeding him of course!  We are very silly in our house so one day as we were doing laundry we found ourselves playing a game that involved feeding the dog socks. When he became overly full he would burp them out. My son thought this was hysterical so it got me thinking of a new game to play with all of the kids. I expanded the game to feeding the dog all sorts of objects found around the playroom. I would ask the kids to feed the dog something of a certain color, shape or texture and he would only eat it if they got it right.

Happy Birthday to Our Mascot!
Happy Birthday to Bella! She may have turned 6 on May 19th but she still has plenty of energy to keep up with all of the kids!

Activities 3

Dying Eggs
What better way to celebrate Easter than to dye eggs! Bright colors and glitter make for some beautiful eggs....we’ll just ignore the cracks left behind from the not so gentle approach to dipping them. :)

Learning Shapes (Triangles, Circles & Squares)
We spent a few days incorporating shape activities into our routine by focusing on circles, triangles and squares. We sang songs, completed worksheets, went on a shape hunt around the house and even prepared our food to resemble the shape of the day!

Cheese, Whole Wheat Pita, All Natural Turkey & Banana

Science Experiments
Magic Ice - Melting & Color Mixing
Pour water into 3 bowls. Add food coloring to each bowl to make red, yellow and blue water. Place ice cubes in a shallow dish. Discuss the 3 colors. Use an eye dropper to pick up the colored water and dribble over the ice. Talk about what happens to the ice (melts). Show how mixing two colors of water makes a new color (mix yellow and blue to make green or red and blue to make purple).

Dancing Raisins
Pour club soda into a glass. Drop in a raisin. Watch what the raisin does (rise and fall). The bubbles from the club soda stick to the raisin causing it to float more easily...just as a life jacket allows a person to float.

Kid Approved Snack
Fruit & Spinach Smoothies!
Banana, assorted berries, milk, yogurt, spinach leaves (shhh don’t tell the kids!) and ice. These smoothies are great. Kids love them and I get to sneak more vegetables into their day without them knowing!
